In 2009, we found out that children of building construction workers and other underprivileged families living in slums of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad’s were wandering aimlessly. Team Sarthak Prayash surveyed the slum area of Vasundhara and found that these kids did not go to school with a risk of moving in the wrong direction which would have been very dangerous for their lives. Sarthak Prayash team started gathered these children and tried to provide them informal education. After a lot of efforts put in by Sarthak Prayash team, we were able to create an interest for studying within these children and also were able to convinced their parents.
Sarthak Prayash admitted these children in a nearby private school for availing formal education and we bear all the expenses pertaining to education for these kids such as fee, books and stationery, uniforms and clothing etc.
To keep the interest of study alive within these kids, we asked children to come at the library/activity center of Sarthak Prayash after the school classes attended.
We have more than 10000 books in our Vasundhara library and students are getting benefit of these books. 20 -25 students of 6th standard to graduation level regularly visit the centre and are being taught by visiting faculties by way of physical classes and online classes as well. 30 plus students below 6th standard and pre nursery level are being taught by Sarthak Prayash in slum area in Kanauni village near Vasundhara.
We have 7 laptops and internet facility for the students at our Vasundhara centre. Every month we celebrate birthday of the students comes in that month.
